Material: the metal frame of the Banco series consists of a hollow construction with a matt black powder coating. It is recommended that tile/floor protectors be placed on the underside to ensure a longer-lasting, flawless base. The seat and back are made of fast-growing African softwood called Thermo Ayous. The Ayous used for this series is FSC certified wood and therefore comes from well-managed forests. Because Ayous wood has an open-cell structure, it can be perfectly thermally preserved by means of steam or heat treatment without using chemicals. Maintenance: this tropical type of wood is heated to 215° Celsius. Because of the “baking” Thermo Ayous is more resistant to moisture, exceptionally stable and will remain maintenance-free for years (Durability Class I). After Thermo Ayous wood has been thermally treated, it has a beautifully modern and warm look and changes by weather influences to gradually grey away (just like tropical hardwood).
